Academic Essentials Part 1: The Digital Voice Recorder
What is it?: A lifesaver. If you have a professor with a strong accent and have difficulty following the lecture, this will be your new best friend, and save your grade point average. The sound quality is excellent, and the files can be easily transferred to your computer. I used this tool when tasked with giving a report on a religious sanctuary. I recorded the entire service, and then edited together snippets of the service, and used those for my oral presentation. My professor was very impressed.
Tech Republic tears apart the Sony Tablet S and discovers some awesome secrets about it. From the article:
“After cracking open numerous tablets and smartphones, I’ve grown accustomed to seeing the same chips pop up over and over again. The Wolfson WM8903 Audio CODEC Cypress Semiconductor CY8CTMA395 touchscreen controller are definitely among the usual suspects. And while the Tablet S does contain a few of these chips, this tablet has several ICs that I’ve never encountered. For example, the UEI U122 remote control chip allows the Tablet S to function as a regular IR remote. The Audience earSmart A1026 Voice Processor is also something I haven’t seen on another tablet.”
So here’s just one example of how you can use the Sony Bloggie Touch to easily make awesome video content. The electric piano that I used isn’t the best, but despite that the Bloggie still produces a video with really good sound quality (you can even hear my roommates talking in the background!) I edited the video a bit in Sony’s Vegas Movie Studio HD 11.0 on my VAIO laptop, although you always have the option to upload straight from the Bloggie to YouTube and Facebook. Let me know what you think!
That’s right, you can enter to win a free Sony Tablet! All you have to do is follow the directions on the contest page. Sony is giving away two every day, but check it out soon because this opportunity won’t last forever!
